Gold Coast independent label Home Hearing Records has just dropped their debut compilation album Adventures in Sound Vol.1, and we got to listen to it in full on this week’s episode of Electronic Music Australia!

This one’s a proper journey through the wild, wonderful corners of Australia’s electronic scene. Spanning through glitchy textures, driving late-night grooves, and synth wave fun, Adventures in Sound Vol.1 isn’t background music, it’s immersive, expansive, and defnitely full of surprises.

Featuring contributions from Abelisk, Petrichor Project, R-10, Rabbits On Saturn, Robodop Snei (please enjoy EMA Host Ky Mi attempt to pronounce this), Sequential Zero, Simon D, and Suburban Spell, there’s no filler tracks here. Just eight artists creating something original, honest, and interesting, which is a refreshing standout in a time where remakes, "reimaginings", and retro rehashes often dominate the scene.

Grab a copy of the album on Bandcamp to support the artists directly.

Track of the Week: Do It Right - Petrichor Project

Petrichor Project takes out the top spot this week with Do It Right, opening with an emotive piano solo before launching into crisp drum and bass energy. It's a track that exemplifies his signature approach: journey-based compositions with long melodic intros that set the stage almost cinematic story telling through sound.

We’ve been fans of Petrichor Project for a while; Space Boots for Dance Floors was a standout on EMA back in 2022, and this track just confirms it. Petrichor Project’s genre-mashing, rule-breaking spark makes every release a (very pleasant) surprise.

Behind Petrichor Project is Glenn Anthony, a Melbourne-born artist now residing in the Northern Rivers of NSW. With over 40 years in the music game, Glenn's influences range from the underground electronic scenes to live jazz, drawing inspiration from artists like John Digweed, Sasha, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Thievery Corporation, and Lamb. His extensive experience and eclectic taste culminate in a sound that's both innovative and deeply rooted in electronic music traditions.
