Beat Journal: July

July brought a strong mix of Indie dance, bushy textures, a bit of melodic stuff and some vocal moments we really rated. Highlights came from Audible Thought, Jane Doe DNB, Tina Says, Koh-Dee & Devon Rea, to name just a few.

This month we featured three female artists in the Beat Journal! That’s more than usual, but it’s still not enough. Women make up less than 20 percent of APRA registered composers in Australia and only around 28 percent of festival lineups globally. The gap is real.
