Gold Coast DJ and Producer Damo Cox found solace in the studio to deliver the bass heavy heater, ‘Like a Freak’ - out now via Sorta Kinda Music.
The former pro wakeboarder, now DJ, Producer and Sound Engineer, was inspired to produce the track as a respite from uncertainty of the past two years.
Reduced opportunities to perform during the pandemic took its toll on Cox, but he found a silver lining with extra time in the studio. “Bringing happiness to people through gigs is such a huge part of what I do, so COVID made things hard…but making music has been a way for me to channel that energy and bring those good vibes back”.
Outside of the studio, Cox has also been busy, wrapping up a Bachelor of Audio degree at SAE in late 2021, showcasing the latest house and tech house heaters in his radio show Sorta Kinda Radio, and working on his record label, Sorta Kinda Music, “we’ve been putting in the hard yards behind the scenes”, remarked Cox, “it’s super exciting”.
Cox mixed and mastered his first compilation album CLUB CACTUS VOL 1. last August which featured ‘Acid Kiss’ which peaked at #17 in the Chart of August 16.
With a glitchy vocal sample and driving bass line, ‘Like a Freak’ is undeniably catchy and a sure dance floor filler. The B-side ‘Spoil Me’ is synthy, sexy and straight fire.
‘Like a Freak’ is out via Sorta Kinda Music on March 25 and coming to a dance floor near you soon.
