This Week's Playlist – Week 1, June 2025

Any week with a track that features a cat theme, has "cat" in the title, or in this case, even includes a cat’s meow, is a good week. Cat-approved (and cat-mother approved) content.

That said, my curiosity was piqued by "Save the Cat," the opening track from Pendulum. Apparently, Save the Cat is also a screenwriting term that describes a moment early in a story where the main character does something to make the audience like them… like saving a cat. Naturally, down the rabbit hole I went, and while the track is high-energy and very much Pendulum of old, the lyrics are surprisingly heavy. It feels like the protagonist in this song is in desperate need of a “save the cat” moment to redeem themselves… but maybe they never quite get it. Or maybe I’m overthinking it.

Either way, launching with a heavy-hitter like Pendulum might make you wonder where there is left to go, but don’t worry, we were just getting started. We rolled into seriously solid Aussie tracks, including Djanaba’s “Stutter” from her upcoming album Did I Stutter, dropping June 17. Needs No Sleep had us dreaming of the warm kiss of the summer sun with “Summertime”. This one’s so fresh, it isn’t out until June 20, so you’ll just have to be patient, kids! High Spaces lifted the energy with the bright and blissful “Gently.” Jon Guetano rounded things out with another sleek tech house club track, “All I Wanna".

Track of the Week: Tenobi - Deep Inside

Decision paralysis was at an all-time high, with so many great tracks, it was seriously hard to pick just one. But in the end, we couldn’t resist the sexy house groover “Deep Inside” from Tenobi. Think late nights, dark dancefloors, and everything in between. Watch this space, we’ve got some great Tenobi remixes coming up in future shows.
