CLVB CVD

Updated: Aug 17, 2022

Electronic Music Australia ep.17 aired 27 June 2022

It's been a fairly uneventful week, with all fun plans trashed in exchange for long days in front of the telly, plenty of cough lozenges (lozenges - that's a weird looking word, isn't it?) and countless tissues, as I was struck down with the dreaded spicy cough. Thankfully I am not alone, with my two besties suffering along with me, forming CLVB CVD. That said, I'm going to keep this week's blog short and simple so I can get back to my new found life as a sloth, but first let's talk about the music.

The DNB cohort this week included 'Mad Ting' from Alpha Rosa, which is a new project for Bryce Nad (otherwise known as Double Agent). 'Mad Ting' is signed to Dark Machine Records, an imprint founded by Shockone. Our second DNB track this week is Formidian's 'Celestial Body. He has released this track on his own label, COVET DNB and let me tell you, Formidian is definitely one to keep your eye on.

CJ_DJ is back this week with 'Harmful and Vicious'. This little known producer from the Gold Coast is a powerhouse of tunes, he's got a decently sized catalogue of music in various genres. He's still a bit of a mystery, but if you're keen to connect with him and check out what he's doing here's his SoundCloud.

House / Tech producer MODAY's 2021 release 'Symphony' is a really neat track with a slick bassline. Originally from New Zealand, MODAY currently calls Brisbane home. 'Symphony' was released under Gold Coast independent record label Sorta Kinda Music.

An EMA favourite, and probably Australia's favourite breaks DJ / Producer, Kid Kenobi is back in the mix this week with 'Rock the Funky Beats'. This is a super ear-wormy bop! Speaking of Kid Kenobi, we caught him at Planet of the Breaks in Brissy on 18 June where he tested the foundations of the Prince Consort Hotel, it felt like the floor might just collapse underneath us, the place was HEAVING. Incidentally, the other thing we caught that night was the 'rona!

I said I was going to keep it short and simple, so I will wrap things up and get back to the warmth and saftey of my doona and maybe even "Make Some Magic" as stated on the tissue box. Not sure who came up with that or exactly what they had in mind there but it's giving me a giggle anyway.

If you want to send me some music to listen to, now would be a perfect time - you can send song requests or submit your own music for me to play on the show here. If you just want to say hi, you can get in touch with me via the EMA socials or message me here.

The next episode of Electronic Music Australia airs on 105.7 Radio Metro on Monday, July 4 at 3 am AEST. You can listen to EMA episode 17 on SoundCloud, Mixcloud and YouTube or check out the Spotify playlist below.
